The venue for all ski courses is the snow-sure resort of Tignes, in the French Alps. A detailed description of ski courses can be found below. If you are at all unsure about which Clinic is best suited to your needs, please call Ali Ross Skiing Clinics during office hours on 0033 47906 4908 or use the Contact form
All ski courses have a maximum of 8 skiers and are taught by Ali Ross himself. They run Monday-Friday (except the PPCs which are by arrangement).
Please note that whilst the ski courses are a training programme, offering progression from one level to the next, you are not obliged to join any particular level before moving onto the next one, providing you are already familiar with Ali's ideas from our books and videos . In this case, please contact us for further advice.
Level 1
For intermediate to advanced recreational skiers with several years experience, joining the Ali Ross system for the first time. Typically, a Level 1 skier will have reached a learning plateau and would like to make progress, but doesn't know how to. Most important is a willingness to try out new ideas. Please note, there is a MINIMUM standard - to be able to ski using open parallels on a red run in the Tignes, France, area.
Two ski course groups of maximum eight per week, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon, with a swap over midweek. Each group has a minimum of two and a half hours per session. Please be aware that whilst we try to be flexible about splitting the groups, we cannot guarantee to accommodate specific requests from clients to be in one or the other.
Season refresher
A combined Level 2 and Advanced course for those wishing to start the year as they mean to go on! Great for remembering what you should be doing for the rest of the season.
One group of maximum eight per week.
Level 2 and Advanced
These skiing courses are for those skiers who wish to make further progress within the Clinics' system.
Level 2 aims to develop technique for a wider variety of skiing situations and to apply them whilst also building up mileage on skis. We introduce off-piste skiing whenever conditions allow.
Advanced ski courses aim to refine technique further for more difficult terrain and conditions, including the development of mountain awareness and avalanche transceiver training. Off-piste skiing whenever safely possible. Avalanche transceivers are provided for those who do not have their own.
One group of maximum eight per week.
Personal Performance Clinic (PPC)
A PPC offers private skiing lessons, for half day or full days, four skiers maximum, For more information, prices and booking, please contact us.
Evening Seminars
All skiing courses have Evening Seminars which take place more or less straight after skiing on two or three evenings for discussion and questions.
Introductory Meeting
This is held on Sunday night in the downstairs bar at the Hotel Arbina at 5.30pm unless advised otherwise.
How To Book
Please see How To Book for more details on booking your skiing course.
Lift Pass
We advise buying an Espace Killy lift pass, which covers both ski resorts, Tignes and Val D'Isere.
Ski hire
We recommend Guy Clarey of Ski Fast, Rue de la Poste, 73320 Tignes le Lac, as the best shop to hire skis and boots from. They know our requirements and stock good quality, well-serviced equipment. Telephone (0033) 47 906 3344. Email guy.clarey@wanadoo.fr . They speak English.
